The image I produced is a play on the Timothy Greenfield-Sanders "double portrait" of Ray for the cover of his Goldie Paley Gallery show at the Moore College of Art in Philadelphia (more birds, brotherhood, doubles, twins). It's a portrait of Ray. I think he would like it, probably make some sort of golden-tongued pun...
"This is an e-collage comprising a silhouette portrait of me by Ray (date unknown, probably early 1990s) as an Arcimboldo made of fruit, vegetables and dairy products, combined with a photograph of the human skull in Jackson Pollock's studio. Shortly before he died, Ray called me to ask if he could make a silhouette of the skull, and he wanted Roy to photograph him at work. Sadly, he never did the project. So this is an homage to that Nothing (which may have been part of the planning for his suicide), as well as an allusion to my thoughts about his death."
